Personalized
Instruction

The big education companies use cookie cutter approaches to teaching and learning while charging way too much. High Tide personally tailors instruction to the unique needs of every student. Relationships begin with a free consultation to identify your goals and to plan an individualized learning strategy to meet them. Do you need a little financial help? Sliding-scale fees are available for lower-income families and individuals.

Planning Success from
Middle School To College

Preparation for high achievement begins early. High Tide has teaching experience in middle school, high school, and universities and diligently works with students whose goal is a college acceptance letter or career readiness. Whether studying for a science test or preparing for the SAT, High Tide builds a foundation of critical reading and writing skills students need for academic success.

Hi, I’m Jon Markle!

I founded High Tide because I saw the need for a much more personalized path to educational success. My mission is to instill confidence in students to reach their academic goals, and my unique background as an instructor in many different educational settings sets High Tide apart. Instead of teaching you a one-size-fits-all system, I will help you to identify the strategies that challenge you by building on your existing strengths — so that your achievement rises.

Here are my services

Subject Tutoring

As a classroom teacher, I especially loved working one-on-one and in small groups! I have gathered lots of unique resources in many subjects to help students succeed, and I look forward to sharing them with you. Tutoring is tailored to individual learning styles – whether visual, verbal, or hands on. Every client is provided with a free learning consultation to identify how to get the best results!

High Tide supports these 6th-12th grade subjects: English, math, science, and social studies as well as certain electives. College-level tutoring is also offered for select subjects.

Test Prep

Take standardized tests with confidence, not anxiety! In order to score high, you need to know both what will be on the test and how to take the test. High Tide Tutoring offers prep services at a fraction of the price of large companies for the following exams:

ACT

SAT

 GRE

GED

MAT

High School Exit Exams

College Applications

The secret to a college acceptance letter is great student writing, and great writing takes practice. Whether it is an English essay, the ACT/SAT writing section, or a personal statement, students benefit from expert coaching in how to communicate their ideas in writing. Personal statements can make or break a college application, and I will help you write a compelling one that stands out and sets you apart from the competition.
